Acrivastine

About

Acrivastine is a fast-acting, non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms. It works by blocking the action of histamine — a substance in the body that causes allergic reactions.

It is commonly used to treat:

  • Hay fever (allergic rhinitis)
  • Pet or dust allergies
  • Skin allergies such as hives (urticaria)
  • Allergic reactions causing itching, redness, or swelling

Acrivastine is usually available in the form of:

  • Capsules
  • Tablets
  • Occasionally combined with pseudoephedrine for nasal congestion (e.g., acrivastine with pseudoephedrine capsules)

How and When to Use It

Take acrivastine exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage: The usual adult dose is one 8 mg capsule three times a day, as needed.

Acrivastine is not generally recommended for children under 12 years old.

Take each dose with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
